StartupBench: The First Step

 

The StartupBench Curriculum offers Veterans who wish to start a new business all the important information in one place, allowing them to prepare for their entrepreneurial venture in a complete and structured way. This curriculum’s courselets cover everything from business roles and startup options to choosing the product or service they want to offer. After completing this curriculum, future entrepreneurs will fully understand the commitment they are undertaking, and they will be ready to pursue their business ideas.

After completing this curriculum, future entrepreneurs will fully understand the commitment they are undertaking, and they will be ready to pursue their business ideas.

 

Each student who completes this curriculum will be awarded a Certificate of Completion, and their case manager will be informed as to whether it is recommended they continue into the Business Plan Accelerator. Upon completion of this curriculum, students will:

  1. Understand business ownership roles and responsibilities.
  2. Know what is important to consider when starting a business.
  3. Learn about startup options.
  4. Find out more about the supports for self-employment.
  5. Understand the impact of a new business on their benefits and work incentives.
  6. Determine which product or service to offer.

Certificate Requisites

To fulfill the academic requirements of the curriculum, students must complete the course and satisfactorily complete all knowledge checks.

All knowledge checks are delivered in multiple-choice format, and are criterion-referenced and scored according to the best attempt. 

Certificate issuance

To be issued a certificate of completion, a student must complete all the academic requirements of the curriculum. 

Certificate maintenance and use

Each certificate has a unique serial number which is tracked by the CBA Education Administrator. Certificate is not transferable to another person or company. The certificate can only be used while it is valid. When certificate is invalidated for any reason, the person can no longer use the certificate.
